The PCOS Society of India and The Bengal Obstetric and Gynecological Society celebrated The International PCOS Awareness Month on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Vivanta, Kolkata from 8:30 AM – 2:05 PM.

The program started with Quiz Preliminary round. The topic of the Quiz was PCOS. There was a total of 27 teams from different medical colleges of Kolkata, Diamond Harbour, Rampurhat and Midnapore who appeared for the initial written Preliminary round.

After that, Dr Siddhartha Chattopadhyay spoke on “Assessment of Hyperandrogenism and Metabolic Risk” and Dr Jayita Chakrabarti spoke on “Menstrual Dysfunction in Adolescent”. The Chairperson for the session was Dr Ramprasad Dey.

Dr Piya Ray spoke on “Role of Inositol in PCOSManagement”, Dr Biswajyoti Guha spoke on “Pre-Conceptional Therapy in PCOS” and Dr Bhaskar Pal spoke on “Does Early Intervention Improve Fertility in PCOS”. The Chairpersons for the session were Dr Ashis Kumar Mukhopadhyay and Dr Hiralal Konar.

Final round of Quiz

The two teams from Kolkata Medical College, one team from Chittaranjan Seva Sadan and another team from R G Kar Medical College scored the highest marks in the preliminary round, thereby qualifying for the Main round. This was conducted by the Quizmasters Dr Sujoy Dasgupta, Dr Sharmishtha Ganguly, Dr Poushali Sanyal and Dr Bidisha Ray Chowdhury. The Score keeper and Time keeper were Dr Sohini Choudhury and Dr Manjir Mitrarespectively.

The combined team from Chittaranjan Seva Sadan consisting of Dr Sruti Pansare &Dr Sanjana Panwar won the First Prize. Dr Shireen Islam and Dr Md Omar Khan from Kolkata Medical College won the 2nd Prize and Dr Sriakshi Manna and Dr Kabir Hossain from R G Kar won the Third Prize.
